What Takes Place In Silence: A Film Series
This series of eight international films explores the role and function of silence in furthering the overall cinematic purpose of the work. The eight films deal with various themes in diverse cultural contexts so that silence can be appreciated as communicating widely divergent messages. These are ambiguous films and might be challenging (and exciting) for the American viewer. The discussion after the film is designed to allow time for digestion and reflection on the work and share multiple perspectives and reactions.
